Founded more than 18 years ago as New Orleans Gourmet Foods, Tina’s Cajun Creations packaged authentic New Orleans flavors like their BBQ Shrimp Mix and Vieux Carre Rib Rub until the arrival of Hurricane Katrina. The aftermath caused them to lose close to 90% of their client base, and they needed assistance immediately. Thanks to the technical support of Carmen Sunda at Loyola University’s Small Business Development Center (SBDC), a program in Louisiana Economic Development’s Microenterprise Development initiative, they received funding that allowed them to utilize outside marketing consultants to breathe some new life into their business. The SEBD funding enabled them to perform an extensive website upgrade and develop trade show materials which has garnered new clients and international exposure.
